ROWE — With less than a year left in her second term of office, Selectboard Chairwoman Marilyn Wilson has resigned, citing health concerns.
Wilson submitted her letter of resignation after Monday night’s Selectboard meeting. The letter, addressed to Town Clerk Katharine Sprague, said Wilson’s resignation took effect immediately. She had written: “This unfortunate decision is a directive from my doctor, and I am very sorry to cause inconvenience to the town.”
Wilson has served on the Selectboard since 2012.
Last week, Wilson rebutted an Open Meeting Law complaint filed by two residents, who essentially complained that topics not listed on a posted agenda were discussed at a May 11 Selectboard meeting. Wilson said two of the items were unforeseen at the time the meeting was posted — 48 hours before the meeting — but they required immediate action. Wilson admitted the meeting was reconvened after Margaret Rice and Cynthia Laffond had left the adjourned meeting, she explained the discussion was only to share information with another selectman.
Wilson could not be reached for comment on her resignation Wednesday afternoon.
Plans for a special election have not yet been set.
