CHARLEMONT — State Rep. Paul Mark, D-Peru, has re-filed a bill that would allow the town to levy a 3 percent tax on commercial recreation services (ski lift tickets, guided rafting tours, zip lines) to generate more revenue for ambulance service.
Last year, the bill was not voted on by the state Senate because of issues raised by the Department of Revenue. This year the Board of Selectmen will work with the joint legislative committee assigned to this bill, to answer any questions and make sure the bill conforms to all state practices.
