Pop-up bar, immersive experience coming to Shea
TURNERS FALLS — The Shea Theater Arts Center and Eggtooth Productions will present a pop-up bar and immersive experience on Friday, Feb. 13, and Saturday, Feb. 14, at 7:30 p.m. The events will be at the Shea Theater, located at 71 Avenue A.
The event, “Charley’s Tropical Bar & Board Game Palace,” is an immersive experience of a nostalgic bar set in the 1990s, with tabletop games, music, cocktails and “cozy community vibes,” serving as a “time capsule of the pre-2000s,” the event notice describes.
Tickets in advance or at the door are $20 or on a sliding scale. Tickets are also available online at sheatheater.org.
E. Horace Winston III to perform love songs at The Rendezvous
TURNERS FALLS — Residents are invited to celebrate Valentine’s Day with E. Horace Winston III at The Rendezvous, 78 Third St., by dedicating a song from a list of iconic love songs on Saturday, Feb. 14, from 7 to 9 p.m.
Some of the love songs that can be chosen from a list of 50 songs include “Pennies from Heaven” and “You’re Mine,” along with original compositions from E. Horace Winston III, which he will play while guests dine at the restaurant. Admission is free.
Sunday matinee series continues at Discovery Center
TURNERS FALLS — As part of the free winter Sunday documentary film series from Sandbox Films at the Great Falls Discovery Center, the documentary “How Deep is Your Love?” will be shown from 2 to 3:45 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 15.
The film follows scientists who explore the sea to collect and name undiscovered species while the threat that deep-sea mining poses to the ecosystem lingers.
“This film weaves wonder with urgency, challenging us to balance the drive for resources with the intrinsic value of an ecosystem,” the event notice reads.
Free hot chocolate will be served. This screening is for adults and children ages 12 and up.
Feb. 19: Family game event
TURNERS FALLS — The Brick House Community Resource Center on Third Street will host a family game event on Thursday, Feb. 19, from 2 to 4 p.m.
