As I write that I’m leaving the Recorder (my last day was Friday, and I’m leaving for a new job away from journalism), I can’t help but think back to when I started here in 2019 right out of college.
I knew nothing about Franklin County, didn’t know anyone in the area and didn’t know what to expect. I can truly say that since that time, I have been amazed at how friendly and welcoming everyone has been.
I have met so many people over these years, from all the athletic directors to coaches to players to parents, that I feel like I know just about everyone in the county at this point. I can truly say I don’t remember a bad interaction throughout the six years, which is incredible to think about. Everyone has been respectful and I’ve enjoyed developing friendships and relationships in the community along the way. I can’t thank everyone enough for that.
The games and the stories are fun but it’s those relationships that I’ll always cherish. And for all our subscribers, thank you all for reading along these years. Here’s hoping I was able to do the community justice.
I am still looking forward to following along on all our teams’ journeys this year!
Tom
