Bernardston, MA – Katherine (Coburn) Porrovecchio, 84, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on Monday, July 20, 2026.
Kathy was born in Colrain, MA on January 10, 1942 the daughter of Raymond and Doris (Wells) Coburn. She received her master’s degree in education from the North Adams Teachers College and later received a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study from the University of Massachusetts.
A teacher at heart, her career began as an elementary school teacher in Charlemont and later became school principal. Over the years she became a counselor to education professionals.
On November 23, 1962 she was married to Carl J. Porrovecchio at the Colrain Congregational Church.
In addition to her devoted husband of over 63 years, she leaves behind her two sons; James and his wife Theresa of Elberon, VA, Chris and his wife Sarah of Gill, MA, her grandchildren; Christopher Jr. (Amanda), Shelby (Bret Roberts), and Angela (Josh), her great grandchildren; Granger, Adelynn, Delila, Eleanore and Judd, her sister Lenetia Pollard of Readsboro, VT, her brother-in-law David Purrington of New Smyrna Beach, FL and several nieces and nephews.
Kathy was predeceased by her brothers John and Fred Coburn, her sisters Sharon and Pauline, her nephew Matt and her brother and sister-in-law Lewis and Marjorie Porrovecchio.
There are no services at this time.
In lieu of flowers, it is recommended that memorial contributions be made to one of the following; National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation (npcf.us), the Bernardston Senior Center, PO Box 505, Bernardston, MA 01337, the Bernardston Fire Dept. or the Northfield Ambulance/EMS.
