HAWLEY — The town passed a $1 million budget and all other issues aside from one at its Annual Town Meeting Monday night. The meeting lasted only 20 minutes.
The town’s fiscal 2020 $1 million operating budget is a jump from this year, which amounted to $977,194.
The town also approved a budget of $250,000 for Hawlemont Regional School District costs, up from 246,043 in the current year. The town also OK’d capital expenses for the district, totaling $8,860 in fiscal 2020.
Voters approved Mohawk Trail Regional School District’s operating costs of $198,244 in fiscal 2020, up from $181,414 in the current year. The town also passed Mohawk’s capital costs of $5,051.
The only issue that not approved concerned local permits. The article, that sought to deny, revoke or suspend any local permit if the individual fails to pay their taxes, was tabled as voters did not have enough information, Selectboard member Hussain Hamdan said.
