GREENFIELD — The Greenfield Police Department is investigating after several gunshots were fired at a building on Conway Street on Thursday night.
According to Police Chief Todd Dodge, no one was injured after the shots were fired at 136 Conway St. He said the investigation is ongoing into exactly who the suspects are in what is believed to be a targeted shooting.
Surveillance footage provided by property owner Michael Mendyk shows four people exit a white SUV as it pulls into the parking lot next to the 10-unit apartment building at around 8 p.m. on Thursday night. The four individuals then walk along the side of the building and an initial four shots can be heard in the footage, with three additional shots fired by a member of the group who can be seen standing behind a parked vehicle.
The individuals then ran back to the SUV, where a final shot was fired before the vehicle pulled out of the parking lot heading north on Conway Street, the footage shows.
Dodge said that when police arrived to investigate, they found shell casings, along with bullet holes imbedded in the building’s exterior. He also said drugs were recovered from the property, with Mendyk reporting ongoing issues with drug and squatter activity.
As of Friday morning, no arrests have been made, and Dodge said neighboring law enforcement agencies have been notified about the incident. Authorities are on the lookout for a white SUV, though a specific make and model has not been determined.
