Water District seeks candidates, warrant articles

SOUTH DEERFIELD — Candidates for three positions with the South Deerfield Water Supply District are being sought.

Residents of the district and who are registered voters can run for the one-year position of district clerk, one-year term as moderator or for three-year positions on the Board of Water Commissioners.

Anyone interested in running should notify District Clerk Nancy A. Zabko in writing at P.O. Box 51, South Deerfield, MA 01373 by April 9.

Also, district residents who want to submit warrant articles for the annual district meeting on April 25 must do so by April 2. The proposed articles can be delivered by hand to the district office on Route 116 or mail them to the previously mentioned post office box.

Conway dog owners: time for licenses

CONWAY — Residents are reminded that state law requires that dogs be licensed each year. Licenses for 2018 are available from the town clerk on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings between 9 a.m. and noon. Owners who find the hours inconvenient may purchase licenses by mail at P.O. Box 240, Conway — please include SASE bearing 70 cents postage. Make checks payable to the Town of Conway. Males and spayed females are $3 each; Females are $6 each. The following information must accompany all requests: Owners name and address, dog’s name, age, breed color and gender; a current rabies certificate. Proof of a current rabies vaccination is required.

Licenses expire annually on March 31. After July 1, Conway owners are subject to a $10 fine in addition to the regular licensing fee for each unregistered dog in their household.

Still time to get on Conway ballot

CONWAY — Any potential candidates that were not nominated by the caucus or nominees that failed to sign the certificate of nomination and want to appear on the ballot must contact the Town Clerk’s Office for nomination papers.

Candidates for all offices must be residents and registered voters in town.

Offices on the 2018 ballot will include one Selectman, one assessor, two Board of Health members, two local School Committee members for three years and one member for two years, two Planning Board members, and one moderator.

The Town Clerk’s Office is open on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings between 9 a.m. and noon or call 369-4235, ext. 4, to make other arrangements for pick-up.

Signed nomination papers must be returned to the clerk’s office before 5 p.m. on March 29.
