The Whately Planning Board is proposing a new section of the town’s zoning bylaw to regulate battery energy storage systems, based on the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources’ model bylaw, with conditions for different tiers of systems and requirements for site plan reviews, emergency response plans and noise standards.
