WHATELY — You can run for mom on May 14, during the seventh annual Western Mass. Mother’s Day Half-Marathon, covering 13.1 miles through the region, benefiting Cancer Connection.
“It’s Mom’s Day! Run FOR your mom, WITH your mom!” organizers tout in their announcements.
Along with the half marathon, there will also a nine-mile walking course. Both races begin at the Yankee Candle factory on Christian Lane. Walkers step off at 7:30 a.m., followed at 8 a.m. by runners.
“It is a fairly flat course with a few rolling hills. Participants who register as fundraisers and raise $300 will be given free race registration,” the statement continues. “The first 600 runners will receive a free race shirt and medal.” Parking will be provided by Yankee Candle.
Cancer Connection is a nonprofit “support center that has served as a haven for people diagnosed with cancer and their caregivers in the Pioneer Valley since 2000.”
