Tolan Jason Bistrek was promoted to the title of Chief Petty officer in a pinning ceremony of the Naval Reserves on Sept. 18 that took place at Westover Air Force Base in Chicopee. He is a chief equipment operator in the Seabees serving with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 27. Bistrek is currently employed at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield and works in the operating rooms as a clinical engineering service representative. Tolan is married to Nara Garber. He is the father of four children: Lillia, Camille, Tolan James and Samuel. Tolan is the son of Thadd and Pamela Bistrek and grandson of World War II Army veteran, James L. Dinsmore, all of Northfield. His late grandfather, Stanley T. Bistrek, was also in the Naval Construction Forces during World War II.
