Julianne S. (Keyes) Doerpholz

Greenfield, MA – Julianne S. (Keyes) Doerpholz, 63, of Greenfield, passed away at home on March 20, 2026, after an illness, Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease. She was born in Greenfield, MA May 19, 1962, the first child of Allan and Janet (Thompson) Keyes. She graduated from Greenfield Community College and attended UMass Amherst.

Julie worked after high school as a bookkeeper for Valley Programs (now ServiceNet). During and after college she worked in retail sales, including doing tofu demonstrations at many grocery stores within 50 miles of Greenfield. Later she was a counselor at a Valley Programs group home, where she met her first husband, Jan Novak. They had one daughter, Jacinda Novak. Subsequently, Julie found her true calling-farming. She raised llamas, then sheep, goats and chickens. In 2008 she met the love of her life, Patrick Doerpholz, with whom she married in 2018.

In addition to her husband, daughter and parents, Julie’s survivors include her sister, Leticia Keyes, her brother, Dennis Keyes (wife Jennifer), one nephew, Aidan Braverman, and one niece, Emily Malaika Braverman, several cousins, her dear friend, Ellie Abbott, and many other friends.

Julie was predeceased by her brother Peter Keyes.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday April 18, 2026, at 11AM at Robbins Memorial Church, 55 Munson St. Greenfield, with Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Timm officiating.

Visiting hours will be Thursday evening April 16, 2026, from 5-7 PM at Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal St. Greenfield.

Burial will be at a later date at the convenience of the family.

In place of flowers, the family suggest donations to the National Prion Disease Pathology Surveillance Center, 2085 Adelbert Rd. Rm. 419, Cleveland, OH 44106.
