NEW SALEM — The annual town election is near, with a slate of officials seeking renewed terms on Monday.
There are no races on the ballot and there are four unsought vacancies: a five-year and a two-year term on the Planning Board and one-year partial terms on the Board of Assessors and School Committee.
David Briand stands out on the ballot, seeking two seats. Previously appointed to both boards, Briand seeks an elected return to the Board of Assessors and the School Committee, both three-year seats.
On the ballot, all incumbents and all are three-year terms unless otherwise noted:
Wayne Hachey, Selectboard; Lynn Layton, Board of Health; Stacy Senflug, town clerk; Calvin Layton, moderator; Alfred Ohlson, constable; Melissa Burke, School Committee; Judith Northup-Bennett, library trustees. Monica Winters, previously appointed to the library trustees, seeks a one-year seat.
The warrant is not yet published, but Town Clerk Stacy Senflug expects polls will be open in the 24 South Main St. former library from 11:45 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.
