PETERSHAM — Following a hiatus of programs due to COVID-19, the University of the Wild is offering a slate of informative and exciting programs for the fall season, according to a press release. All programs are based on its mission to offer “programs and services to people of all ages, circumstances, and persuasions for living and learning in connection and harmony with the Earth and All Life.

At a time of climate disruption, cultural fragmentation, and social injustices, the UofWild offers a range of programs geared to residents and friends of the local Quabbin/Nichewaug Bioregion to better confront the state-of-the-world. On Saturday, Sept. 25, from 2 to 4 p.m., noted ritualist, Katja Esser will offer a Fall Equinox Ritual at America’s Stonehenge, Salem, N.H. Visit www.ritualexpressionsevents.org.

Nipmuc Story Teller, Larry Spotted Crow Mann will share stories and music from the land at 10 a.m. on the Petersham Common on Saturday, Sept. 25.

Noted local Landscape Historian, Larry Buell will offer a Program on the Biography of the Land: A “Sense of Place” tour in the Eastern Section of Petersham on Sunday, Oct. 3, from 2 to 4 p.m. Meet on the Petersham Common.

A range of Podcasts are an addition to this Fall’s offering. Links to the Zoom Podcasts can be found on www.UofWild.com.

Other programs to be scheduled include Forest Bathing, AirCrete Alternative Building, and a panel on the Nipmuc History of the Quabbin/Nichewaug Bioregion. All programs incorporate innovative programs like Forest Schools, Permaculture Initiatives, and Biomimicry Principles that focus on natural laws.

With the UofWild’s new focus on the theme of “Think Globally, Act Locally” there are special local initiatives, the Sustainable Petersham Project to strengthen local food supplies and strengthen community and its People’s History of Petersham Project to document through oral history memories of residents, which received a significant Cultural Council Grant for start-up funding. Camping and program space is available for individuals and groups.
