It was quite a weekend for Team Crumpin-Fox Club.

The home club held serve in emphatic fashion at the 24th annual Franklin Cup, snapping a three-year winning streak for the Country Club of Greenfield via a 17-7 score after singles matches wrapped up on Sunday.

It was Crumpin-Fox Club’s first title since 2019. Greenfield still leads the all-time series, 14-9-1.

CFC held an 8-4 lead after Saturday’s four-ball and foursome matches, but put the hammer down with a dominant 9-3 edge in Sunday singles. Keith Burch, Brett Barnes, Brendan Creagh, Chris Stoddard, Mike Williams, Justin Dion, Mark Waskiewicz, Jeff Houle and Alex White all won matches on Sunday for Crumpin-Fox Club.

CCG captain Andy Lesenski won his singles match for the visitors, while Dave Kennedy and Jason Kelton also captured wins on Sunday.

CFC captain Troy Miller teamed with Waskiewicz to win a point during Saturday foursomes, and Miller also won a point with partner Dave Donoghue in Saturday four-ball action.

Williams and Dion were the top point-scoring players for the Foxes, as both players won all three matches they participated in to lead the charge.

CCG’s Kelton and Kennedy were the top scoring players for the visitors, as both went 3-0 in their matches over the course of the two days. The pair teamed for wins in four-ball and foursome play before Sunday singles matches.
