I would like to thank the Gill Elementary School for inviting me a while back as a guest at the school assembly where I donated my photojournalism photography work so teachers can use it for their curriculum studies with their students. It also was a pleasure and honor to receive such a warm welcome as a former student. I appreciated the opportunity to meet everyone, and at a school assembly, explain to students about my photography that was previously displayed at the Great Falls Discovery Center.
I also discussed how my interest in photojournalism began when I apprenticed under my late grandfather Joseph A. Parzych who was an Army veteran and ran JA Parzych Excavating of Gill from 1956 – 1990. After that, during his semi-retirement years, he continued as a freelance, professional photojournalist from 1947 – 2019. I mentioned to the students that my grandfather had once taught a writing and journalism class with former editor and founder of The Montague Reporter, David Detmold, with teacher Joanne Flag in the classroom with her students at Gill Elementary School.
