WARWICK — One newcomer and two school and town officials won seats in contested races during the annual town election on Monday.
Anna Picard, 20, received 55 votes and was elected to serve on the Board of Health defeating candidate Michael Italia. Selectboard member Todd Dexter won a race against Johan Sednek with 52 votes for transfer station commissioner and incumbent Adam Holloway defeated David Wells for a three-year School Committee seat with 61 votes.
The election saw 96 voters with a 14% turnout rate to fill 14 elected positions.
“I am very grateful to have been given this opportunity and to be elected for this position,” Picard, wrote in a statement to the Recorder. “I look forward to serve as a part of this board as a member and a clerk, and to help my community throughout my term. I am thankful for all Warwick residents and thankful for the board members … for inspiring me and helping me to reach for this position.”
Results for uncontested races:
■Selectboard, three-year term — Brian Snell, 89 votes.
■Assessor, three-year term — Ann Kendall, 84 votes.
■Town Clerk, three-year term — John Paganetti, 92 votes.
■Library Trustees, three-year term — Nadia Woodson Marti, 83 votes, and Elaine Sednek, 75 votes.
■Constable, three-year term — Brian Peters, 90 votes.
■Moderator, one-year term — Jim McRae, 46 votes.
■Cemetery Commissioner, three-year term — Vacant.
■Highway Commissioner, three-year term — Bruce Kilhart, 78 votes.
■School Committee Member, one-year term — Alan Genovese, 88 votes.
■School Committee Member, two-year term — Diana Noble, 88 votes.
