DEERFIELD — Residents elected a new Deerfield Elementary School Committee member and reelected the rest of the ballot’s incumbents in Monday’s town election.
In an uncontested race, voters elected Raina Kittilstved with 163 votes to a three-year School Committee seat. She replaces Ken Cuddeback, who opted not to seek reelection after more than 30 years on the committee. Voter turnout was 4%, with 183 votes counted.
Kittilstved, 47, is a lab instructor in the chemistry department at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and has been president of Deerfield Elementary School’s Parent-Teacher Association for four of the last six years. She previously said she was interested in getting more involved with the school and local government.
“I’ve always been interested in the inner workings of local government and the School Committee, and learning about how all those decisions are made,” she said in April. “I’ve been pleased with this administration’s commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, and I’d like to be a part of that.”
Beyond Kittilstved and Planning Board member Emily Gaylord, who had previously been appointed to the board to fill a vacancy, all other candidates on the ballot were incumbents. Gaylord received 153 votes, securing her a two-year term.
The remaining results for uncontested races are as follows:
