DEERFIELD — The Deerfield Cultural Council received more than 50 applications, a record for the committee, for grants to fund community events and programs in the current fiscal year.
The event proposals outlined in the applications represent intergenerational programming based in arts, music, science, technology, engineering and math.
“It’s a testament to Deerfield that we received the breadth and quality of applications this year,” said Emily Gaylord, the Cultural Council’s chair. “We should be proud and impressed that our community draws such fantastic programming.”
In fiscal year 2023, the Cultural Council funded 20 projects, including several programs at Tilton Library, two Nolumbeka Project programs and Recreation Department initiatives, among others.
“When we were considering our guidelines and funding priorities this year, we wanted to make sure we strengthened programming in our town, making it accessible and available to all ages,” Gaylord said. “We’re particularly excited that almost all events are inclusive of the entire community.”
SUNDERLAND — The Sunderland Recreation Department has rented the skating rink at Greenfield’s Collins-Moylan Arena on Wednesday, Feb. 22, from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
The cost is $12 for adults and $6 for students and younger children. Skates can be rented for $5. The Recreation Department, however, needs at least 40 skaters to pay for the ice, so Sunderland families are encouraged to bring friends, even if they don’t live in town.
To reserve space, call the Recreation Department at 413-665-1439.
