LEYDEN — The driver of a 10-wheel dump truck sustained minor injuries following a rollover crash on Greenfield Road on Wednesday afternoon.

The Bernardston Fire and Police departments, aided by a Northfield officer, were able to extricate the driver through the windshield after the dump truck struck a guardrail while traveling northbound and rolled onto its side, according to Bernardston Police Officer Jordan Zukowski. The Bernardston Police Department provides policing services in Leyden through an intermunicipal agreement.

Zukowski said the driver was transported to Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield for treatment of minor injuries.

The rollover crash closed Greenfield Road and traffic was detoured onto South County Road while the truck, which dumped its load of sand, was removed.

The Massachusetts State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section, also know as the Truck Team, was called to investigate. Also responding were the Greenfield Fire Department, Colrain Ambulance and Northfield EMS.
