Arts Council presents music with Lily-Rakia Chandler

WARWICK — Lily-Rakia Chandler will perform at Warwick Town Hall on Saturday, March 11, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Chandler, who identifies primarily as Native American (Mohawk) and Jewish, navigates the many nuanced ways oppression affects people and the Earth. Her music is a reflection of that love and liberation in practice.

Receiving inspiration from her many ancestors and growing up in the ’80s and ’90s, Rakia’s music is a unique mix of hip-hop, reggae and sacred chanting. This will be an artistic and musical participatory event to learn about the past, present and future of Native people locally.

The event, presented by the Warwick Arts Council, is free and open to the public. Donations are welcome.
