Toano, VA – Christopher J. Ward, 74 passed away Friday April 24th after complications from heart surgery. He was born on December 10th 1951 in Greenfield, MA to Charles "Rex" Ward and Marion "Cutie" Ward. The family moved to Northfield, MA and Chris graduated from Pioneer Valley Regional High School in 1970. Chris embraced the "Hippie" culture of the time, living in a community in rural Maine, owning a VW bus and all the social norms of that era. He was a free spirit.
Chris was a grounds keeper and landscaper and enjoyed golf. He loved the Patriots and all types of dogs. He resided in Toano for over 40 years after falling in love with Edie Ertl, a local gal. Together they raised two cherished children Stacie and Rex.
He is survived by his daughter Stacie Burns, her husband Justin and their children Lola and Connor. His son Rex Ward, his wife Lauren and their children Liliana and Ava. His brother Michael Ward and his husband Doug Lyman of Greenfield, cousins and longtime friends throughout the country. He is predeceased by his cherished wife of 43 years in 2022 and his parents.
A celebration of life will be held in Toano at a later date.
