GREENFIELD — The Springfield man accused of firing 15 rounds at a Greenfield Gardens apartment in July before fleeing is being held without the right to bail pending a Dec. 8 dangerousness hearing.

Qadree Hutchins, 28, appeared before Judge Karen Goodwin in Franklin County Superior Court on Monday afternoon, where defense attorney Jonah Goldsmith entered a not guilty plea on his client’s behalf. Hutchins is charged with discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, possession of a firearm without a license to carry (fourth offense), possession of ammunition without an FID card, vandalism, disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace.

Hutchins had been arraigned in Greenfield District Court on Aug. 2. His case was transferred to Superior Court due to its severity. He will appear at his Dec. 8 dangerousness hearing via Zoom.

Greenfield Police arrived at Forbes Court in the Greenfield Gardens apartment complex following a report of gunshots on July 25 at around 1:15 p.m. Police had previously reported that a man approached the front door of a residence on Forbes Court at around that time and began aggressively knocking and yelling into the residence. When he did not get a response, the man allegedly fired at least four shots into the door. One of the shots penetrated the front door, went through the residence and through the back door, exiting into the apartment’s backyard. According to police, no one was home at the time.

The man then reportedly walked back to the vehicle, a black Honda Accord, and fired additional rounds into the residence before fleeing the scene, according to police. Security footage from Greenfield Gardens also captured the incident, and witnesses reported seeing and hearing a man fire multiple rounds into the door at 25 Forbes Court.

Erin Aiello, the assistant district attorney prosecuting the case for the state, has previously stated the apartment’s occupant was at work when the shots were fired and was called to come home by the property manager. The occupant told police the shooter was likely Hutchins, who is her ex-boyfriend and the father of one of her children. She reportedly told police there is a history of domestic violence, which is why she moved with her children from Springfield to Greenfield. According to Aiello, the woman said that Hutchins had recently been involved in a Springfield shooting and she did not want her child around violence.

While investigating the scene, police found 15 spent 9mm shell casings and numerous bullet fragments, according to Aiello. The assistant district attorney said police later found the black Honda Accord, and Hutchins matches the description of the suspect seen in the video and by witnesses.

Hutchins was arrested in Springfield on an outstanding warrant and arraigned on July 26 in Hampden County, where he was ordered held on $10,000 cash bail. His bail was revoked upon arraignment in Greenfield District Court. Aiello also noted Hutchins was the target of a firearms-trafficking investigation in Springfield.
