Local residents are invited to five Franklin County locations to safely discard unneeded medications as part of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday.
People can drop off unwanted drugs — for humans and for pets — at the police stations in Greenfield, Deerfield, Leverett, Montague and Sunderland from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This is part of a collective effort to prevent misuse or accidental ingestion.
The Northwestern District Attorney’s Office is teaming up with the Franklin and Hampshire county sheriff’s offices, the county-based TRIAD initiatives, local police departments and the federal Drug Enforcement Administration to host the event, which will also take place in nine Hampshire County communities.
