Please understand the verdict rendered against Greenfield, to be appealed is within the context of liability insurance. Any monetary loss and legal fees are the responsibility of the insurance company and not the taxpayers of Greenfield. Although the verdict rendered is founded on a finding of discrimination, judgment has not been entered. Defense counsel will seek a new trial, based on the grounds Greenfield did not receive a fair trial, because the evidence introduced at trail was not connected to the parties before the court. If granted or not, one or the other side will appeal. Notwithstanding the post trial motions, the verdict is sufficient to convene an investigation by the mayor and the City Council, regarding the continuing employment relationship with the police officials involved. The facts and the findings warrant timely resolution. The public deserves no less.
