The Intercounty League will have to wait another day to crown a girls track and field champion.
The Frontier and Mohawk Trail track teams got together Monday, but the meet was suspended just as the field events were coming to a close in Buckland.
The meet will resume on Tuesday at Frontier. If the Redhawk girls come up with a win, they’ll seal the league title. If the Warriors come out with a victory it’ll force a three-way tie between Frontier, Mohawk Trail and Pioneer for the title.
Turners Falls 11, Mohawk Trail 5 — It was a group effort at the plate for the Thunder on Monday against the Warriors.
Seven different Turners players recorded a hit, with the Thunder scoring four in the first, two in the fourth, one in the fifth and four in the sixth to earn a Bi-County League North win in Buckland.
Alex Quezada and Cam Burnett each tallied a single and a triple while Joey Mosca hit a pair of doubles for Turners (9-6, 5-4). Jacob Lyons hit a double while Levin Prondecki and Lincoln Coleman each hit safely in the victory. Mosca picked up the win in the mound with nine strikeouts.
Deven Buchanan drilled a triple and a single for Mohawk Trail (0-13, 0-9). Logan Moore and Owen Lake each hit a double, Hunter Donahue had a pair of singles while Weston Den Ouden, Ty Griswold and Carter Miller all had a hit in the loss.
• The Franklin Tech-Smith Academy game in Hatfield was suspended due to rain in the top of the 11th. The game will pick up on Tuesday with the Eagles having bases loaded with one out and leading 5-4.
Franklin Tech 10, Mohawk Trail 0 — Lauren Ross knocked a double and a single and struck out 13 in the circle to propel the Eagles to a Franklin County League East victory in Buckland on Monday.
The wins clinches the FCL East outright for Franklin Tech (16-1, 9-0).
“We won the Tri-County League last year, we moved up and rose to the challenge this year,” Eagles coach Joe Gamache said. “We have one league game left on Wednesday against Athol and hopefully we can close out our undefeated season in league play. That was a goal the girls have had since the start of the year.”
Kait Trudeau knocked a pair of doubles and a single while Lilly Ross and Kyra Goodell each hit a double for Franklin Tech. Mya Lesieur smacked a pair of hits and Riley Giard had a strikeout for the Warriors (5-11, 3-7).
Smith Academy 16, Mahar 4 (6) — Saylor Kegans struck out nine in the Senators’ FCL East loss to the Falcons in Hatfield on Monday.
Frontier 3, Belchertown 0 — The Redhawks celebrated their final regular season home match with a 25-11, 25-22, 25-16 sweep of the Orioles on Monday.
Jesse Kurkulonis smashed 10 kills while Patrick Boyden and Aleks Carey both tallied eight kills and three aces for Frontier (12-2). Jack Carey had a pair of kills and aces, Tavo Vincent-Warner dished 25 assists and Payton Sladeski came up with 13 digs in the win.
Putnam 3, Athol 1 — The Bears fell 25-21, 18-25, 25-21, 25-23 on the road against the Beavers on Monday.
Mohawk Trail 3, Chicopee Comp 2 — Another sweep of singles led the Warriors to a victory in Buckland on Monday.
Avery Dupree came up with a 6-0, 6-0 triumph in No. 1 singles, Paige King won 6-0, 6-3 in No. 2 singles and Palmer King earned a 6-0, 6-0 win in No. 3 singles to seal the team victory for Mohawk Trail.
West Springfield 4, Turners 1 — Maria LaBelle picked up a 7-5, 6-3 victory in No. 2 singles but it was the lone win of the day for the Thunder, who fell in West Springfield on Monday.
St. Mary’s 5, Turners 0 — Mike Boyle, Alex Sabin, Jake Reich and John Carmichael competed for the Thunder in a loss to the Saints on Monday in Turners.
