I am writing to express my deep gratitude for the generosity of Greenfield Community College President Rick Hopper, Director of Facilities Management, Jeff Marques, Director of Public Safety and Emergency Management, Dan Nietsche, Food Services Manager, Geraldine Voudren, and the countless other GCC employees who have supported the Four Rivers Charter Public School in our time of need. When our high school building became uninhabitable last week due to a very small fire that caused extensive water damage, GCC did not hesitate to house our high school program for the next few weeks. What a relief to find space for almost 150 people! They handled the logistics of our transition with grace and compassion. This act of neighborly altruism is one to celebrate! Due to GCC’s immediate support, our students, who have handled so much adversity throughout the pandemic, were able to have educational continuity and a continued sense of community. This act of generosity had a positive impact on our entire school community, and we are incredibly grateful.
