WHATELY — Public safety officials are asking drivers to avoid Christian Lane Tuesday.
The road will be closed at the railroad crossing beginning at 8 a.m. on for “much-needed” repair work at the crossing, according to the Whately Police Department.
WHATELY — The town is seeking bids for snow removal at town-owned buildings and on town sidewalks.
Interested applicants should email Town Administrator Brian Domina at townadmin@whately.org. Sealed bids are due on Monday, Nov. 16, by 11 a.m.
SUNDERLAND — The town is soliciting bids for municipal lawn mowing and grounds maintenance services for five town properties.
Copies of the bid invitation are available at the office of Town Administrator Geoff Kravitz, or they can be requested electronically by emailing him at townadmin@townofsunderland.us.
A mandatory pre-bid meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 19, from 9 to 11 a.m. to review each property, and sealed bids should be delivered to Kravitz in the Town Office building at 21 School St. Bids should be marked with the bidder’s name, address and the bid title, “Mowing Bids.”
SUNDERLAND — The Sunderland Public Library is offering a virtual apple pie baking demonstration led by Amherst resident Daniela Cazacu.
The event, scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 19, at 7 p.m., is free and open to all.
According to the event invitation on Facebook, Cazacu’s apple pie was awarded the blue ribbon at a recent Three County Fair in Northampton. She will show participants how to make the pie crust, roll it out, chop the apples and decorate their pie.
Samples of her pie ($5 per slice or $15 per whole pie) can be purchased in advance of the baking demonstration for pick up on the day of the event. To place an order, call the library at 413-665-2642 or email director@sunderlandpubliclibrary.org.
