I am writing in regards to the appalling condition of Silver Lake Cemetery in Athol. I realize a lot of conditions have changed in the events of COVID-19. That said, Memorial Day is on the calendar and everyone knew it was coming! Why wasn’t the grass mowed?

I brought my garden clippers and cut enough grass in order to place flowers; however, as soon as I walked away, the grass was so tall that they were hard to see.

Then, trying to get water to water them, when the water has not even been turned on yet, it is now May 27th — still no water — and no mowing either!

We have all had to make sacrifices during this time, even us retired people, but we should not have to stand over our loved ones graves, crying over the condition of their sites. Very sad and upsetting.

I though I had been doing well at keeping my spirits up through it all. I guess this was the final straw!
