Hospice & Palliative Care would like to express sincere appreciation to all 87 Hospice Volunteers serving our organization. This amazing group of men and women give their time and compassion to patients and their families during emotional and challenging times.
The list of tasks and assignments our volunteers accomplish is extensive, to name a few: respite time to caregivers, assembling photos, recording stories, sharing music, reading, being present veteran to veteran, sitting bed-side at end-of-life, making supportive bereavement phone calls, completing mailings, all while offering supportive listening to everyone.
This is a glimpse into the possibilities of volunteer assignments. Our volunteers answer to all these requests and more with kindness, humor and grace.
As volunteer service coordinator for the past 16 years, I have witnessed countless acts of selflessness, compassion, creativity and love towards others. Our volunteers come to us as strangers with a desire to serve and become trusted partners. They are valued members of our Hospice Team. To all volunteers everywhere, especially our very own, thank you!
