I recently spent the better part of a week in Baystate Franklin Medical Center. I’d like to thank all those that poked and prodded, scanned and scoped, measured and metered, diagnosed, prescribed, fed, cleaned, counseled, prayed and all in between. Each and every one did so with absolute professionalism and with genuine concern and compassion … and all with a smile and sense of humor when I needed it.

The hospital was overflowing with illness, which made their level of care even more impressive. On more than one occasion, I’d overhear gentle negotiations with patients not as cooperative as I. Not once did they lose their cool. One of my biggest takeaways from the journey is what I heard more than once when I said, “Thank you. Everyone has been so great.” The reply was “That’s so nice to hear. Spread the good word, as the negative voices seem louder than the positive”… which is not surprising in the negative world in which we currently reside.

So, I’m here to cast my vote for those that care in Spoke 1500. These are real people, not machines (and I assume they have real-life stresses of their own), but in not one case did I ever feel them spill out into my world. Thank you!
