COLRAIN — A grain truck driver was airlifted with serious but non-life-threatening injuries Thursday after his arm got caught in the truck’s grain auger while on Coombs Hill Road, according to Colrain Fire Lt. Kevin Worden II.
A dispatcher with Shelburne Control said the emergency call came in at 3:08 p.m.
Colrain Ambulance transported the man, whose name was not released, to the Colrain Fire Station, where a LIFE STAR helicopter was waiting. Worden said the helicopter, which took off at around 4:20 p.m., took the patient to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.
Roughly 10 firefighters from the Colrain and Shelburne Falls departments awaited the ambulance on Main Road, and some assisted in unloading the patient from the ambulance. Worden said Greenfield Heavy Vehicle assisted at the scene on Coombs Hill Road.
