Impeaching President Trump has to be done.
The actual facts are shocking. Mr. Trump extorted a foreign country to try to help him win in 2020. He was asking Ukraine to interfere in our election. This is exactly what the Founding Fathers were worried about: foreign interference.
Mr. Trump has abused the office of the presidency. There is clear evidence of his misdeeds. If Congress lets this slide, there will be no boundaries to what a president can do. Our very democracy depends on our drawing a line when it is obvious that a president has committed the impeachable high crime of abuse of power.
President George Washington, in his 1796 farewell address, warned us against all foreign entanglements in our elections. “. . . People ought to be constantly awake, since history and experience prove that foreign influence is one of the most baneful foes of . . . government.”
I think that Presidents Washington, Adams and Jefferson would have understood and approved of impeaching our current office holder.
