Local artists and authors will read and talk about their careers on Saturday at the Buckland Public Hall, 15 Upper St., during the adjacent Mary Lyon Church annual bazaar festivities. At 11 a.m., Ashfield author and illustrator Beverly Duncan will read from “Christmas in the Stable.” At 11:30 a.m., Margot Apple of Shelburne Falls will read from one of her many children’s books. At 1 p.m., artist Cyndie Stetson of Heath will read the well-known poem by Clement Clarke Moore, “T’was the Night Before Christmas.” Free candy canes will be available for children.

The Community Clothes Closet at 83 Foundry Village Road will be open every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. until winter. Residents of all towns are welcome. Clothes are free and suit all ages. Literary Decorated Gourd Contest at Greenfield Public Library: Come to the library and grab a gourd (while supplies last), bring it home and return it to the library decorated as a favorite character from a book before closing time Saturday. Judging will take place the week of Nov. 25, and the winner will get a pumpkin pie. Sponsored by the Friends of the Greenfield Public Library.

Northfield

The thrift store, which is open to the public and helps finance the food pantry, is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The food pantry is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. In an emergency, such as a fire or flood, the center will supply needed clothing, linens and food to help the disaster victims.
