Youth Basketball Program: Registration has begun. The program includes Start Smart Basketball for children in kindergarten through second grade, January through February. Montague residents, $30; non-residents, $35. Boys and girls 3/4 Junior and 5/6 Senior Travel Teams, December through February. Montague residents, $70; non-residents $75. Practice days and times are to be determined for all travel teams. Coaches are needed.
Sawmill River 10K Run: Registration for the annual Sawmill River 10K has begun. The run is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020, in Montague Center. The road race will begin promptly at 10 a.m. near the common on Main Street. Race-day registration will begin at 9 a.m. at the Montague Common Hall, 34 Main St. Divisions include: youth (ages 17 and under), open (18 to 39), master (40 to 49), senior (50 to 59) and senior plus (60 and up). Entry fees are $30 (if paid by noon on Dec. 31), or $35 (thereafter). Hot and cold refreshments will be provided. This event benefits the Montague Parks & Recreation Department’s Sponsor-A-Child Scholarship Program. The Sawmill River 10K Run is a USA Track & Field sanctioned event.
