ORANGE — Homecoming weekend is upon Ralph C. Mahar Regional School, with events happening Thursday through Saturday.

According to a Mahar press release, the first event will be a program in the Kermit Cook Auditorium on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at which the homecoming royalty will be introduced by members of the Mahar Key Club. The candidates are: Emily Paluk, Charlie Barnes, Ceara Zhang, Thor Mead, Jessica Wilson, Riley Drew, Mya Ballard, Logan Dodge, Jordan Fournier, Simon Powell, Skylar Dodge and Todd Chiasson.

A feature of the program will be lip sync entries from each class, freshmen through seniors.

At 5:30 p.m. Friday, there will be a parade featuring homecoming royalty, class banners, cheerleaders, the varsity sports teams and coaches. The parade will begin at the Orange Town Hall and go down South Main Street and Burrill Avenue to Mahar.

Following the parade, the Key Club will sponsor a tailgate party in the Mahar parking lot. Key Club members will sell a variety of food including hot dogs, hamburgers and sausages. All spectators, parents and students are welcome to attend.

Prior to the beginning of the football game, the homecoming royalty will be presented to the crowd. At 7 p.m., the Mahar Senators face the Monument Mountain football team. During halftime, parents of the varsity football team, cheering squad, senior golf team and senior cross-country team will be recognized by the Key Club. Parents of seniors will receive pictures, and parents of underclassmen will receive certificates of appreciation.

On Saturday, the varsity volleyball, soccer and field hockey teams will play alumni teams starting at 9 a.m. Volleyball and field hockey games will begin at 9 a.m., the boys soccer team will play at 10 a.m., and the girls soccer team will play at 11:15 a.m. Prior to all these games, the parents of senior players will be presented with a picture of their son or daughter by the Key Club; parents of underclassmen will receive certificates. According to the release, the Key Club will also sell coffee, hot chocolate and doughnuts in the gym lobby.

The Homecoming Dance for students in grades nine through 12 begins in the school cafeteria at 7 p.m. Saturday. A highlight of the dance will be the presentation of awards for class banners and the lip sync competition. The crowning of homecoming royalty will be at 8:40 p.m.
