GREENFIELD — The preliminary election Tuesday will have two races: for mayor and at-large City Council candidates.
The local preliminary election will be held at the Greenfield High School gymnasium. Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.
Brickett Allis, Sheila Gilmour and Roxann Wedegartner are running for a four-year term as mayor. The two candidates who get the most votes will face off in the November general election.
James Henry, Philip Elmer, Christine Forgey, Terence Stigers and Michael Terounzo are running for councilor-at-large; two seats are available. The primary will narrow the field to four candidates.
Voters are advised to use the auditorium entrance — which is fully accessible — to the high school, Greenfield City Clerk Kathy Scott said. There is parking by the track.
If people are unsure of their precincts, an information table staffed by the clerk’s office will be available to answer any questions, Scott said.
Sample ballots can be found at bit.ly/2ky0t0K.
“We would love to see everyone there,” Scott said. “We hope for a good turnout this year. It takes a lot of work to have an election and when we get a good turnout, it’s a great feeling.”
The general election will be held Nov. 5 at the Greenfield High School gymnasium; polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The last day to register to vote for the November election is Oct. 16, and the clerk’s office will be open that day until 8 p.m.
The Greenfield Recorder will post the winners online at recorder.com on Tuesday night. Questionnaires completed by the candidates are also available on the website.
