MONTAGUE — An ongoing survey of Millers Falls residents and business owners will inform Montague’s development goals for the area over the next five years.
The town’s hope is that this community-directed planning project will result in growth for Millers Falls comparable to what Turners Falls has seen over the past decade, said Montague Cultural Coordinator Suzanne LoManto.
“The town is really on an upswing, partially because of our investment in the arts,” LoManto said.
The survey is available online at turnersfallsriverculture.org. Paper copies are available at the Millers Falls laundromat, the Whistle Stop Cafe and Millers Pub. The survey runs through the end of June.
The survey focuses on how locals want to use downtown Millers Falls and what they would like to see built there, LoManto said. The resulting planning document will be used for the town’s future grant-writing. It will also help business-owners seeking bank loans by showing that their goals are supported by the town, LoManto said.
“The point is always to have a document you can refer to and say, ‘This has been community-identified,’” LoManto said.
A community meeting on the survey’s results with the Planning Department and the Millers Falls Community Improvement Association is scheduled for July 18 at 6 p.m. A location hasn’t been announced yet.
