Why do drivers speed up from High Street, in Greenfield, down Main Streets towards a red light at Federal Street? Someone told me: “They could be the first to wait.” Why do motorists see the octagonal red stop signs and not stop at the intersections? Why do state residents fail to stop at all red lights?
None of us are perfect, but what is it that makes one think that the law does not apply to them? There are signs prohibiting U-Turns on Main Street and Bank Row Street.
However, people ignore these signs, because maybe they are in a hurry?
Why all these rules of law for drivers? These laws were carefully thought out and printed in the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles Manual. They are designed to help people drive their vehicles safely.
There have been many near misses that could have resulted in tragedy. Please try to stay alive. It is quite possible that God has plans for you.
This is your life. Enjoy it. But also, consider your neighbors.
To all that drive and obey the laws: thank you. The police, thank you.
When I was a young man, I got a ticket for speeding. I mumbled under my breath (not complementary). When I turned 60, I told a number of policemen that someone probably saved my life. Thanks. We all miscue. Occasionally, but if it gets to be a habit someone might get hurt.
