MONROE — The tiniest town in Franklin County may also be the most engaged in municipal politics. More than half of the town’s 82 registered voters turned out to the polls at Monday’s annual election — even though there were no contests on the ballot.

Of Monroe’s 82 registered voters, 45 cast a ballot on Monday. To compare, two local towns received far less engagement in their annual elections on the same day. Colrain’s election, also with no contests, had a 7 percent turnout. Buckland had one race on the ballot and saw a turnout of 16 percent.

In Monroe, all six candidates vying for 10 positions were incumbents. Two candidates secured three positions each.

Carla Davis-Little won three seats: a three-year Selectboard, Planning Board and Board of Health Chair term; a three-year School Committee term and a one-year Town Auditor term.

Norman Goodermote secured two seats he ran for and one he didn’t. He won a three-year Finance Committee term and a three-year town moderator term, plus a two-year town constable term as a write-in candidate.

Thelma Gomez won a three-year library trustee seat.

Robin Hart won a three-year town constable term.

Marcella Stafford Gore won a three-year town clerk term.

Raynold Passardi won a one-year tree warden term.
