Man charged in connection with deadly Boston crash

BOSTON — The driver of a car police say was speeding before it flipped over in Boston over the weekend, killing one passenger and injuring another, has appeared in court.

Dylan Etheridge was arraigned Monday on charges including motor vehicle homicide in connection with the crash at about 1:15 a.m. Sunday in East Boston. Not guilty pleas were entered on his behalf and he was released on $1,000 bail.

Prosecutors say the 22-year-old Etheridge, who lives in the neighborhood, was driving from 80 mph to 90 mph when he struck parked vehicles and the curb before flipping. One female passenger died.

Police say Etheridge left the scene. But his attorney, Peter Marano, says his client was disoriented and went to get help. He says the crash was an accident, not a crime.
