The National Honor Society at Ralph C. Mahar Regional School District ran a food drive called “Can the Principal” this spring that collected over 1,550 pounds of food for the Orange Food Pantry. Karrie Hammond, the Honor Society’s advisor, said it took four truckloads to deliver the goods, which included paper products and diapers. Karen Merriam’s Advisory won the friendly competition. Bruce Mitchell, the winning principal/student monitor, had to move his desk into the hallway and work there the next day because his office was filled with food.
