MONTAGUE – An accident involving three vehicles lead to two colliding head-on on Millers Falls Road, causing three people to be transported to Baystate Franklin Medical Center on Monday evening.
A silver Honda Civic and a silver Toyota Matrix collided on Millers Falls Road near a sharp corner near New Street and Grand Avenue.
Turners Falls Fire Department and Montague Police responded to the scene, as well as an AMR ambulance.
The accident occurred when a van, which was able to drive from the scene, was driving east on Millers Falls Road and the operator of the Toyota Matrix drove up the hill, struck the van and drove head-on into the Honda Civic, according to Montague Police.
Both the two vehicles sustained heavy front end damage. The cause of the accident is under investigation, according to Officer James Ruddock.
Millers Falls Road resident Dan Sachse said the area sees accidents constantly.
“My neighbor painted his stairs red because so many people have driven on them,” Sachse said. “But this is the first time since I’ve been living here that I’ve seen an accident as bad as this.”
He said the accident shook his house and sounded like “furniture being dropped in my house.”
