Youth Basketball Registration has begun for Montague residents. Non-residents may register beginning Nov. 5. The program includes Start Smart Instructional Basketball for children in grades kindergarten through second; Boys and Girls third and fourth grade; junior and fifth- and sixth-grade travel teams. Fees vary. Practice days and times are to be determined. Coaches are needed, and training is provided.

Bluefish Swim Team: The Bluefish is a recreational/competitive swim team that has been around for over 40 years. The Team consists of groups according to ability, novice through advanced. Members of the Pioneer Valley Swim League. Meets are Saturdays. Open to all area youth able to successfully complete an in-pool swim test. Practices Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Meets Saturdays (Home/Away) December through March. Fees vary. Call for rates. Check out sthe new team website on montaguebluefish.com.

Annual Sawmill River 10k Run: Registration begins Nov. 1 for this New Year’s tradition. The Sawmill Run will be Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019 in Montague Center Village with a 10 a.m. start. Register on-line at www.runreg.com or www.montague.net. Entry fees: $30 (Paid before Dec. 31 at noon), $35 paid thereafter. This is a USA Track & Field sanctioned event. Divisions include Youth (18 years and under), Open (19-39 years), Master (40-49 years), Senior (50-59 years, senior + (60 and up.)) Proceeds benefit our Sponsor-A-Child Scholarship Program.

Youth Basketball Clinics: Girls and Boys in Grades three through six, 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Sheffield Elementary School Gym. Girls Clinic Tuesday, Nov.13, Boys Clinic Wednesday, Nov. 14. Montague residents $20 per player; *non-residents $25 per player. 15 player limit/10 players minimum for each clinic.; (Non-residents will automatically be placed on a waiting list until Thursday, Nov. 8 and if availability allows, will be switched to the main roster that day). These clinics are not “try-outs” for our Youth Basketball Program, nor do they guarantee placement on those teams. Registration for our Youth Basketball Program is separate and first come/first serve, and will began Monday for Montague residents and will begin Monday, Nov.5 for non-residents. Clinics may be switched to co-ed if registration permits.
