Herrell’s Ice Cream has thought up a tasty way to ring in the Jewish New Year.
On Tuesday, Sept. 4 from 4:30 to 5 p.m., bring your shofar to Herrell’s at 8 Old South St. in Northampton and receive a free small ice cream.
According to a Herrell’s press release, the event, called The Great Shofar Blast, begins outside. Participants will teach each other to blow the shofar — a ram’s horn trumpet that is traditionally sounded at Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur — and hear inspirational teachings about the instrument. The event concludes with ice cream inside.
