Police await evidence to emerge from suspect’s bowels

TEWKSBURY — Police in Massachusetts have sought a search warrant for the bowel movements of a man suspected of swallowing heroin they think he intended to sell.

Undercover Tewksbury officers pulled over Raul Sanchez-Gomez and Hector Guerrero, suspected of planning to sell heroin. Both were charged with drug trafficking. Two detectives reported that the two suspects had sold them heroin.

Although a police dog did not find any drugs in their vehicle, officers said Sanchez-Gomez appeared to be choking while trying to swallow drugs.

Tewksbury Police Chief Timothy Sheehan told The Sun of Lowell that Sanchez-Gomez remains under surveillance in jail and had not passed any drugs as of Monday afternoon.

Police say both men were in the U.S. illegally. It’s not clear if they have lawyers.

Trial date set for convicted child rapist facing new charges

WOBURN — A 70-year-old convicted child rapist from Massachusetts charged with new offenses that allegedly occurred in prison just before his scheduled release will go to trial in December.

The Eagle-Tribune reports that a judge Tuesday set a trial date of Dec. 11 for Wayne Chapman.

Chapman was convicted in 1977 of sexually assaulting young boys he lured into the woods by pretending he was searching for his dog. Two experts recently ruled he could be released because he is no longer dangerous.

He was scheduled for release this summer, but in June was charged with exposing himself and masturbating in front of prison staff and nurses.

Chapman’s lawyer questioned the timing, calling it curious he was never accused of sexual wrongdoing in decades behind bars until just before his scheduled release.

Man indicted on child porn charges

BROCKTON — A man has been indicted on charges that he secretly took photos and videos of underage, unsuspecting female victims.

Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz says Christopher Barlow, of Kingston, allegedly stored and shared hundreds of images of four underage females on electronic devices and told two of the teenagers that he would upload their images to a pornographic website unless they shared other images with him. A grand jury returned 58 indictments against Barlow on Tuesday in Brockton, including extortion.

Michael Bergeron, who is listed as an attorney for Barlow, has not returned request for comment. Bergeron has previously accused Cruz of making misleading statements about his client.

Police executed a search warrant of Barlow’s home in June 2017. He will be arraigned on the charges on Aug. 15 before Superior Court.

Man lured girls to tent, gave them alcohol

EAST BROOKFIELD — A man is facing charges for allegedly luring two girls to a tent in the woods, plying them with alcohol, and discussing sex acts.

The Telegram & Gazette reports that 46-year-old William Ahearn, of Barre, was held on $50,000 bail after pleading not guilty Monday to charges including indecent assault and battery on a person 14 or younger, enticing a child under 16, and procuring liquor for a person under 21.

Prosecutors say Ahearn was charged after the mother of one teen found messages of a sexual nature from him on her daughter’s cellphone Saturday.

Police found the tent about 100 yards from a camper in which Ahearn lived.

Ahearn’s attorney sought lower bail saying his client has not worked in some time and recently had a heart attack.
