WHATELY — Students and faculty at the elementary school had to shelter in place after a report of a suspicious person in the area around noon Tuesday, according to police.
A Long Plain Road resident saw a person in his backyard on a surveillance camera and called it into police, according to a Facebook post by the Whately Police Department.
“There was no threat to the school, students or faculty, but was done only as a precaution,” the post by police said.
The person has not been found by police and the situation is under investigation by Whately, Deerfield and state police.
