GREENFIELD — State agencies want to know what residents know about pot laws in the Bay State.

The Cannabis Control Commission and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health are seeking opinions from Greenfield residents about public awareness of laws regarding recreational marijuana. The marketing company Cambridge Focus is looking for residents to form focus groups on Wednesday and Thursday at Greenfield Public Library to find out what residents know about the laws.

“The Department of Public Health and the Cannabis Control Commission are developing a public awareness campaign that will address legal adult use cannabis and coincide with the start of retail sales this July,” Maryalice Gill, press secretary from the commission, said in an email.

“They are testing ad and branding ideas by convening focus groups in communities throughout the state, including in Greenfield next week,” she said.

Participants will receive $100 as part of the research.
