WENDELL — A 56-year-old motorcyclist was killed on Friday morning after colliding with another vehicle in the area of 318 Lockes Village Road.

According to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, the crash occurred at approximately 6:30 a.m. A preliminary investigation indicates that a collision occurred between a vehicle and a motorcycle that were traveling in opposite directions.

The 56-year-old man who was operating the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.

The driver of the vehicle stayed on scene and cooperated with police, according to the DA’s office. No charges have been filed at this time.

According to the Leverett Police Department, which provides policing services to Wendell, Lockes Village Road was closed for four hours between Jennison Road and West Street.

The crash remains under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services Section and the Wendell Police Department.
