David R. Descavich

Turners Falls, MA – It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of David “Dave” Ronald Descavich on September 21, 2026. Dave was born September 17, 1959. He was the eighth child born to Charles and Violet Descavich. Dave was a generous and endlessly creative man who brought passion, humor and a bit of horsepower to everything he did.

Naturally inventive, he never met a machine or project he couldn’t improve. If it had an engine Dave would make it faster; if it was broken he would rebuild it better. Among his pursuits was completely restoring a classic Corvette from a ground up-a labor of love that reflected his skill and eye for detail. Never one to stop at standard specs, Dave famously built a custom golf cart capable of hitting speeds over 50 miles per hour, much to the amusement (and initial shock) of anyone that took a ride. This same boundless energy spilled into the holiday season. Dave was known for his legendary, over the top Christmas light displays, transforming his home into a glowing winter wonderland that brought joy to all. For Dave, the fun wasn’t just in the finished product – it was the planning, the rigging and problem solving that made the magic happen.

In his younger years, Dave found freedom on the open water as a boat captain, chartering fishing expeditions on Lake Ontario.

He was quick-witted, wonderfully sarcastic and endlessly silly. He will be remembered for his fierce curiosity, boundless creativity and generous spirit.

Dave is survived by family and dear friends that will miss him deeply, hold onto his stories and remember him with love.

David was predeceased by his parents, Violet and Charles; a brother, Charlie; a sister, Debra Descavich and a sister, Charlene Smith.

He is survived by his brothers, Robert, Teddy, Skip and his wife Colleen; his sisters, Tammy Kulewicz, Sheila Remillard and her husband Jeff; and many nieces and nephews. He had a special shared presence with his nephew Jason Remillard and his wife Tammi, Spencer and Hayley Descavich, Susan Brooks, Bobby Banning and his daughters, Aaleigh and Amelia.

Dave will be heavily missed by his true friends, Stanley Wheeler and Mike Peltier.

At David’s request there are no calling hours. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
